My husband is a photographer. I hired a contractor to create an antique French-style room in his studio. I designed the room and bought the ornate carved legs for the fireplace and the various ornate wood trim and onlays to be applied to the fireplace mantel and inside some panel boxes trimmed out on the walls. The walls were plaster and uneven in areas, so special screws, glue, and caulk would be needed to properly adhere the trim and onlays.
Weeks went by and as you probably know, contractors come and go at their leisure. No matter how many texts, calls, and voicemails I sent the contractor, this job dragged on and on.
One day I was standing in front of this half-finished room, having already purchased the paint, glaze, and supplies needed to create the finishing touches and anxious to use this stunning new scene in a session, and there, lying on the floor, were those beautiful onlays and trim, neglected and preventing me from completing the room.
I was furious and, in my mind, I thought, “I wish I could just slap those things up on the wall myself!” And then it hit me… How cool would it be if trims like these could be flexible and sticky so you could just do it yourself? And that was it. I couldn’t quit thinking about it. It was 2008 when my “aha moment” for Sticky Trim was born.
I love beautiful things and I want everyone to be able to upgrade their home without the frustration I felt before creating Sticky Trim.
